In working with players and families in the recruiting/college process for almost a decade now, the ones who experience the most success have a level of cool detachment from it all.

Yes, they care about where they go to college and the team they get recruited to, but they are not so overly invested in it that it drives them nuts, or to the point where they can’t perform live during a summer camp.

This detachment is healthy.

It’s a sign of confidence that no matter what, “we’re going to be alright,”

Of course, that’s easier said than done.

But, the best you can do is line up all your bowling pins as neatly as you can prior to summer recruiting camp season and then just trust that you’ll knock a few of these pins down.
