DM’s are where the magic happens.
But, most players don’t write DM’s that will pique a coach’s interest enough to get a reply.
Remember, your initial DM to a coach DOES NOT end up in their regular X DM inbox.
X parks DM requests in a separate “Message Request” inbox to be reviewed at a later time.
You will only get 2 lines of very short text that will appear as a “preview” in a coach’s Message Requests on your iPhone, but on a laptop, it’s only one line.
So don’t waste time on meaningless pleasantries.
This above DM Request was one I never got around to replying to (not because I don’t want to, it’s just I don’t have time to handle hundreds of these a day, unfortunately) It wasn’t terrible, but what could’ve made it pop? Just sending the essentials:

Here is a template you can use:
“ ‘25 | K/P | 6’1 | 195lbs | 3.8 | 1400 SAT| Offered By X, Y, Z | 85% FG | 90% Touchbacks | HUDL link | Cell/Email
Then, a line lower, type…
Coach, I know I only get 1-2 lines to catch your attention on an initial DM, so I just put in the essentials. I know you’re beyond busy, but I’m a big fan of your program - especially your punt unit’s net return yard being under 10 yards. You guys really take teams seriously. If you might be open to it, I’d love to be recruited by you. Thanks so much.”
This isn’t a guarantee of getting a coach to reply to your DM, by any means, but writing a concise, punchy and clear first line or two in your initial DM can be the thing that gets a coach to open it.
You can’t get a DM reply back until a coach clicks open.
Earn coaches’ attention with your precision, not spam.
