Got waitlisted? Try this ↓

Send a "letter of continued interest" to the admissions department that essentially says you will 100% attend their school if taken off the wait list.

It won't guarantee it happens, but can make it more likely as most applicants don't bother to send these thinking the waitlist is the end of the line.

You can try this script. As always, personalized and proof read to your unique situation. Good luck!

"Dear Admissions Committee,

I am writing to express my continued interest in attending XYZ University. As a prospective student athlete, I was thrilled to have been waitlisted and remain hopeful for the opportunity to join your community.

As a highly motivated individual, I understand the competitiveness of the admissions process and recognize that the decision to waitlist me was made after a thorough review of my application. I would like to thank you for considering my application and for the time and effort the admissions committee has invested in my application.

I am writing to express my commitment to attend XYZ University if taken off the waiting list. XYZ University has been my top choice for a long time, and I am confident that I will thrive in the academic and athletic environments that your institution offers. I would be honored to contribute my skills, knowledge, and experience to your team and the university community.

As a dedicated student-athlete, I am committed to both academic excellence and athletic achievement, and I believe that XYZ University offers the perfect balance of both.

Thank you for considering my application and for the opportunity to express my continued interest. I appreciate the hard work that goes into making admissions decisions and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely, [Your Name]"
